Books & Publications
Calista Education & Culture publishes dozens of books and bilingual volumes that preserve and share the Yup’ik way of life (Yuuyaraq) through Elders’ oral histories, subsistence knowledge, place names, and stories. Many titles have been produced in partnership with Calista Elders and regional culture bearers.
Several titles include Yugtun-English translation, which allows the full meaning, cultural context, and worldview of the original language to be preserved — capturing nuances that would otherwise be lost in English alone. Publishing in Yugtun ensures these teachings remain intact for future generations, in the language in which they were first lived and taught.
Most books are available for purchase online (select a title below to purchase). Limited copies are available at our offices.
